Fabric Flower Rings

Everywhere I look I see fabric rings, I guess it's the new trend. And flower fabric rings are even more in demand! So I decided to try my hand at it. I took contrasting colors of fabric such as orange with a zebra print fabric brad. It's simple to make. Just pick out the fabric of your choice and measure it 2 inches wide by 10 inches length (or larger if you like). Once the fabric is cut thread a needle with of your choice of thread, perhaps one that matches your fabric. Fold your fabric in half length wise and stitch the bottom. As you stitch pull on the thread so that the fabric gathers. Then it will form a circle and begin to look like a flower. Stitch the open ends together. Then you can add a button or brad of your choice for the center. You now can make as many flowers as you like! And you can make them into brooches or rings, earrings or key chains-there is no limit to your imagination! Here is my first one that I have made :)

For the Love of Dolls! and other stuffed creations...

I have always loved dolls, and that has been apparent in my artwork. Whether it's a paper doll or fabric doll my love for them are equal. My best memories were playing with dolls. I remember once in middle school while I was taking a fashion course I decided to make doll clothes. I guess my teacher didn't like what I was doing so much so that I couldn't take her class again until I was in high school. I guess she said I wasn't mature enough but truthfully I'm a kid at heart. And it's that same creativity that drives me today to make and create beautiful dolls. But my passion doesn't stop there, I am now trying my hand at other fabric creations such as teddy bears and other animals! If I can help create a memory for a young child with my art then my work is done :)

Paper Doll Art

When I was younger I loved playing with paper dolls, it was so fun! I enjoyed playing with dolls in general. Now I make dolls of my own. I had an idea of making my own paper dolls-which I've been playing around with this idea for sometime. So I made a few, into magnets that is! I think it's a cute idea-to have a fashion statement on your fridge :) Don't you think so?

These are my very first ones and they are for sale on my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/oneeclekticchick

Colorful Cities

One of my favorite subjects to paint is Cities! But my cities are made up by me-they are not based off of actual cities. The type of buildings I paint are fun in shape and size and come in a variety of colors. It would be an awesome concept if buildings were really in fun colors and each one a fun shape. Just imagine the skyline! To help you imagine that take a look at three of my paintings which is all about city life.

I've been painting and drawing cities since high school. And I have more city ideas for future art! One city that I hope to visit is New York City, I believe that is "The City" of all cities. If you're an artist and you usually paint or draw people why not try something new and paint a city. Make it your own, the possibilities are endless!

Mosaic Art

As an artist I'm always open to trying new things with my artwork. So last night I did a simple painting but made the background mosaic. I also used fabric in this piece. I like using mixed mediums to make one of a kind art pieces. So I think I will use this technique on future art pieces.

I'm excited! I enjoy learning! In school my art teacher Mr. Bob Ragland said a lot of people look at art and say "I can make that", but really how many people actually do it? That's true-so if I say I can make something I really try to do it-not exactly-no, but in my own way :) I was actually inspired from my sister to do a mosaic piece. She did one in high school and it was amazing! I've always said to myself I'd like to try that one day, and so I did! I must say I really do like how it has turned out :D
